Join Unfold curator, Kristy Scaddan and featured artists Nazerul Ben-Dzulkefli, Monique Bosshard Curby, Bina Butcher, Moira Court, Jo Darvall, Shanti Gelmi, Louise Grimshaw, Sarah Hewer, Rob Kettels, Monika Lukowska, Matt Perrin, Paul Uhlmann and Vanessa Wallace as they discuss how they have interrogated and reinterpreted their traditional disciplines to challenge the conventional form of the artists’ book.

Join exhibiting artist Bernard Kerr as he discusses the concepts, techniques and ideas presented in Coincident.

The talk will be presented in the auditorium, followed by an opportunity to view the exhibition and secure your copy of the limited-edition catalogue produced with the support of Gordon Darling Foundation.

Bernard Kerr has been influential in Western Australian ceramic arts practice for over 45 years. Producing both functional and sculptural work in stoneware and porcelain, Kerr is a prolific artist and educator whose works are featured in international publications and held in government, corporate and private collections.

Coincident celebrates ceramic craft and investigates connections between objects and images, drawing on the histories of craft and art and how they are perceived in culture.

Join Louise Wells, Julie Devereux and Anne Williams, for simple stitching and take part in a communal project, #RoadtoyorkWA Community Stitch Project. Participants are invited to stop, slow down, reflect and share experiences of York as they create a small hand-stitched work. Each artwork will become part of a mass display as part of Louise’s exhibition Visible Traces at Pantechnica Gallery.

Anne explores the plant world through drawing, dyeing, stitching and basketry forms. Julie explores family history and stories. Louise will be stitching her way towards her exhibition in York in August 2024.

Tracing Gondwana Opening Launch and Film Screening

A Convergence of Visual Art, Poetry, Voice and Film

The launch of Tracing Gondwana, in partnership with Gondwana Link, celebrates the ancient landscapes of the Great Southern – one of the richest Biodiversity Hotspots on the planet. A collaboration between printmakers Nikki Green, Monika Lukowska and writer Reneé Pettitt-Schipp, has resulted in a body of work responding to the current climate emergency. A series of events will complement the opening and build awareness of the area’s ecological and cultural vulnerability.

You are welcome to attend all or part of the evening’s program below

Neeve will share the story behind it and present a reading of the book before guiding attendees in creating a piece of Western Swamp Tortoise inspired artwork of their own, from simple colouring in or dot-to-dot page to more elaborate free hand drawings.

Join Extricate artists and DADAA in a disability and vision awareness training session that includes a range of theory and interactive activities. In the session, you will learn the characteristics of different disabilities and effective communication strategies. 

DADAA's guide will then demonstrate tactile tour principles and techniques while you discover new ways of interacting with and experiencing the Extricate artforms on show at Mundaring Arts Centre.
